Music Lessons Melbourne

Melbourne is often recognised as Australia's cultural capital (though, don't tell any Sydneysiders that). There is a wealth of artistic endeavours and creative people in Melbourne, not least of all musicians. Some of Australia's best musicians live in Melbourne, which means finding a great music teacher in Melbourne is not too difficult.

When you're choosing a music teacher there are a number of things you should look for:

  • Friendly, positive approach. Remember you're going to be working very closely with your music teacher, so you have to get on fairly well. A clash of egos can make working with your music teacher much more difficult.
  • Good qualifications. B.Mus stands for Bachelor of Music, and is university degree in music. L.Mus stands for Licentiate Diploma in Music and is awarded by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). A.Mus.A is also awarded by the AMEB and means Associate Diploma in Music.
  • Location in a Melbourne suburb close to your home. You don't want it to be a chore to have to go to your music lesson - it should be something you look forward to. But, if it's the choice between a really great music teacher that you work very well with, living a bit further away, then you should usually sacrifice convenience for the sake of a good music teacher.
